The 2009 fayre was the most successful yet and attracted crowds, estimated at almost 10,000. The weather was kind to us which, I am sure, contributed to the large turnout.

We had all the usual attraction as well as some new ones. New in 2009 was the children’s Punch and Judy which proved to be a great hit with the small children. The reindeer, which are bred specifically to be petted and fed by children, once again drew large crowds. We had our usual eclectic mix of street entertainment although the crowds were so large that it proved a little difficult to see them at times!

The 25th Otley Victorian Fayre which will be held on
Sunday 12th December 2-8pm

The 25th Victorian Fayre promises to be quite different. The biggest change is that it will be held on a Sunday for the first time in its 25 year history. We are hoping that by running it 1-6pm it will attract even greater crowds than those seen in 2009.

There will be all the usual market stalls, fairground rides and food concessions as well as a specific programme of family entertainment in the market square. The stalls will be on Kirkgate as usual but instead of the market square they will also be on Boroughgate.

The market square will be used for a variety of entertainment as well as the reindeer that have become so popular since their introduction in 2008. We are working towards closing the fayre with carol singing in the square. Do you know off any choirs that might like to join us?

We will also be offering to accommodate indoor craft stalls for the first time at the Black Horse stables.
